Learn With the Best
The Keyboard Area at Washington State University offers a wide range of classes and degrees, a World Class faculty experienced in teaching and performing, and outstanding facilities. Bryan Hall Theatre houses a 44-rank Schantz pipe-organ and the new recording studio has a 9-foot Fazioli grand piano. Three halls are available for faculty, student, and guest concerts, ranging in capacity from 135-778 seats.
Lessons in classical piano, jazz piano, pipe-organ and harpsichord are available upon audition for undergraduate and graduate majors, minors, and non-majors. Each week, students have a lesson with faculty, participate in Studio Performance Class, and attend Convocation, a recital featuring students from the department. In addition to applied lessons, instruction is offered in piano literature, piano pedagogy, student teaching in the Piano Pedagogy Lab School, and electronic music. Students may pursue degrees in performance, pedagogy or other degrees.
