Performance Ensembles

Whatever your musical passion, whatever your interest, WSU ensembles provide
opportunities to increase your knowledge, improve your skills, challenge your abilities,
raise your profile, expand your network, and explore your musical potential.

WSU Bands include the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Cougar Marching Band, Jazz Big Bands, and various brass, woodwind, and percussion ensembles. WSU Bands and faculty perform at prestigious conferences and collaborate regularly with composers and performing artists.

Auditioned and non-auditioned memberships in WSU choral ensembles offer opportunities to perform in an array of active singing groups—from SATB ensemble options of Concert Choir, Madrigal Chamber Singers, and Opera Workshop to our newest ensembles, Treble Choir and Tenor/Bass Choir.

Members of the Cougar Marching Band are committed not only to maintaining the musical traditions and integrity of WSU through vibrant, masterful, and entertaining performances—they’re committed to teamwork and fun, too.

As part of the WSU Symphony Orchestra, students study, rehearse, perform, and review original symphonic works and transcriptions in preparation for careers as performers, teachers, engineers, technicians, managers, composers, and lifelong practitioners of music. The orchestra divides at times to perform works for opera, theatre, and chamber orchestra, and often performs with high-profile guests and composers.

WSU Percussion Ensembles test students’ skills on all the percussion instruments (from mallets and drums to timpani, accessories, and ethnic instruments. Programs include works from traditional literature, world percussion, orchestral transcriptions, jazz, and pop music.

Expand your horizons. Follow your dreams.
