Studio Voice

Jury assessment in the Voice Area for Fall of 2021 will be back to in-person juries in Bryan Hall Theatre during finals week on Monday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 15. Please click HERE to sign up for a time and then complete the Jury Repertoire Form. Both must be completed no later than Friday, December 10, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

Elementary Voice

  1. Review basic vocal technique
  2. Prepare a minimum of 4 songs for 2 credit enrollment
  3. Demonstrate a basic concept of communication through music
  4. Carry out a coordinated listening program as required
  5. Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of style and interpretation of the material studied through writing and performance

Intermediate Voice

  1. Demonstrate continued development of basic vocal technique
  2. Continue songs in English and Italian
  3. Emphasize German and French repertoire and other languages as appropriate
  4. Prepare a minimum of 4 songs for 2 credit enrollment
    Prepare a minimum of 6 songs for 4 credit enrollment
  5. Begin study of opera and oratorio arias
  6. Continued coordinated listening as required
  7. Demonstrate a developing knowledge and understanding of style and interpretation of the material studied through writing and performance
  8. Complete a Qualifying Exam for the voice faculty and an outside representative for admission to upper division standing (for advanced study, recital preparation)

Advanced Voice

  1. Demonstrate a firm grasp of vocal techniques, including embellishments and ornaments
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of style and interpretation of the material studied through writing and performance
  3. Continue study of opera and oratorio
  4. Begin study of French songs and literature in the contemporary idiom
  5. Prepare junior and senior recitals for public presentation as required for degree program.
